Fuel Bank Foundation has officially been named as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2024 by Great Place to Work, the global authority on workplace culture.

The national fuel poverty charity, which provides financial support to households at risk of fuel crisis, ranked 53rd in the small organisations (10 to 50 employees) category. It’s the first time Fuel Bank has been recognised in the list and is the only charity to be featured in the small organisations category in 2024.

Described as a “remarkable performance” for a charitable organisation, Fuel Bank Foundation scored highly for talent and people management, training and development, and communication.

Matthew Cole, head of Fuel Bank Foundation, said:

We are extremely proud to be featured in this year’s UK’s Best Workplaces list. Fuel Bank is a relatively small charity but the work we do is critical to the people who need our help. As such, it can be a stressful and demanding job.
Recognising this, we have endeavoured to create a supportive workplace environment that is open and flexible, with high levels of trust between team members, who all share the same values and are all working towards the same goal.
As a charity, we also embrace diversity, empowerment and gender equality through recruitment, staff training and development, as well as supporting the health and well-being of all staff members.

Benedict Gautrey, managing director of Great Place To Work UK, said:

Year after year, it's truly inspiring to witness a growing number of organisations earn a spot on our UK’s Best Workplaces™ List. This recognition is no mean feat and highlights companies across the UK that excel in fostering high levels of trust in leadership, instilling pride in their workforce, and cultivating strong camaraderie among colleagues. These crucial elements collectively contribute to creating workplaces where employees feel they can truly be themselves and thrive in a supportive environment. Congratulations to Fuel Bank Foundation for being part of our 2024 UK’s Best Workplaces™ List.

Great Place to Work performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit™ submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2024 UK’s Best Workplaces™ list.

They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies’ employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience. Only those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces™ status.
