This is our response to the Debt & Affordability Call for Input.

Candle-lit, cosy nights make winter feel special. But not if candles are your only source of heat and light. Sadly, for many people in the UK, that will frequently be the case this year. Yes, the energy price cap has been reduced.

The results paint a stark picture of the harsh reality of life for the millions of people who are in fuel poverty. This is perhaps unsurprising given the ongoing challenges faced by the UK such as the cost-of-living crisis and increased energy prices.

We are extremely concerned by the recent announcement that the Energy Price Guarantee (EPG) will be ending in April. So we wrote to the Prime Minister asking for him to carefully consider the impact this will have.

We are seeing an increasing number of people,  dependent on electricity for their health and well-being, and struggling to top up their prepayment meter. So we wrote to Ofgem to highlight the issue.

We have come up with a 12 point plan to better mitigate the risk of self-disconnection, or, if a customer has self-disconnected, to allow suppliers to respond in a way that may lead to an improved outcome for the customer.
