We welcome bills to:
- Move Renewables Obligation funding into Exchequer funding, helping reduce costs on household energy bills
- Create a Warm Homes Agency to provide impartial support and advice for consumers
-
Improve the energy efficiency of homes by implementing new rules to ensure landlords invest in home upgrades to lift families out of fuel poverty
-
Take action to strengthen and accelerate the UK’s drive for energy security and clean energy
We also welcome the goal to lower energy bills and provide Ministers with new powers to target energy bill support at low-income and vulnerable households.
These commitments are especially important given the level of need and uncertainty we continue to see across communities we support. Many households are already anxious about the winter ahead, rising energy bills, and the continuing pressure of the wider cost of living.
Measures that help lower costs, improve the quality and efficiency of homes, and provide support for people will be vital in helping families stay warm and well this winter.
We look forward to seeing these proposals translated into practical action that delivers meaningful support targeted at those who need it most.
